This is such a pretty and sentimental piece.  Set in 15ct Gold, this 'Dearest' ring features 7 gems comprising a central old cut diamond, 2 bright green emeralds, a deep purple amethyst, a blood red ruby, a deep blue sapphire and a light green topaz.   The first letter of each precious gemstone spells out the word, 'DEAREST'.
The gems sit around the central diamond like petals and give this ring its very romantic quality.   This antique acrostic ring would have been given to a loved one as a token of affection to demonstrate that they were regarded as their 'dearest'.

This ring is a UK size L 1/2 which is a US 6. It is a light and delicate ring weighing 1.08g
 
This ring is in fabulous condition for its age.  It no longer bears its original hallmarks, probably due to re-sizing within its lifetime, but. i  would date it to the late 1800s.

As with all antique jewellery i would advise great care when wearing a ring of this age and type.  It is extremely old and the gems, although secure should be treated with care (ie: remove the ring before washing up/swimming and doing any heavy sporting activity)
